I am Dr. Kulkunya Prayarach, and I have amassed extensive professional experience working with leading organizations both domestically and internationally.
Recently, I served as a consultant for the World Bank (WB) in Thailand, where I facilitated various projects aimed at promoting financial sustainability. Additionally, I contributed to WB’s climate risk assessment programs and proposed the innovative climate finance mechanisms as the complement financing sources aligned with the locally and globally to support the Government of Thailand, the Regulators of Thailand and other agencies.
Prior to this aboard experience, I held the position of Director's Advisor at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) from 2012 to 2015, providing policy recommendations and strategic insights for ADB's lending programs and operations.
From 2017 to April 2023, I led the Bond Pricing Department at the Thai Bond Market Association (ThaiBMA), where I spearheaded advancements in bond pricing calculations and conventions. By integrating expertise in finance, economics, and data sciences, I developed a new bond pricing engine leveraging AI, machine learning, and deep learning techniques. This resulted in a significant reduction in calculation time and improved accuracy, earning recognition as a landmark achievement in fixed income development.
Previously, as Vice President at Krung Thai Bank PLC, I formulated strategic lending proposals for targeted industries in Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). I also served as a senior economist at the Fiscal Policy Office, Ministry of Finance, leading projects in regional economic analysis and ASEAN collaboration.
My academic background includes a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Utah in the US , specializing in finance, econometrics, international economics, and economic development. My research focused on transaction costs and investor decisions in Asian countries, applying Bayesian approaches and modern statistical methods.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I am committed to academic instruction, teaching graduate courses in finance and capital market risk management at several universities in Thailand. During my doctoral studies, I also instructed undergraduate courses in macroeconomics and microeconomics at the University of Utah.
